The secret to having your dreams come true
is remembering what they were
Oh, can you hear those violins?

When I woke this morning the outside temperature was 11 the inside temperature 58.  There's nothing like a quick dash out onto the back porch to fill up the cat dish to make that indoor temperature feel a lot better.  Now, at 10:30, the temperature outside has risen 18 degrees, it's bright and sunny but you know it's cold just by the slivers of shadows.  Inside the temperature has gone up to 61.  I hate this fucking house.  I hate the fact that every damn repair on the furnace is almost as costly as installing a new system but without the benefit of a warranty.  I hate the fact that a couple of weeks ago when I was in the cellar and noticed that I had a leaking pipe I didn't do something about it then - call a plumber.  This pipe is heavily insulated and the water is dripping through the insulation, most likely meaning that it had sprung a leak some time ago.  My rationale being "my water pressure is fine, it can wait".  It seems since just before the elections I've been house-sitting with my neighbor's animals at least once a week and I'll be doing it again Wednesday through mid-day Christmas which is why I'm telling myself that this is just going to have to wait till Friday.

Having given the situation a little more consideration, I've called the plumbing office and have been told someone should be out between 1:30 and 3 this afternoon.

Whoa, that was fast.  The plumbers are now here -12:27PM.  They turned off the pressure tank and are cutting the pipe and quite shortly it will be repaired but the semi-maybe good news is (I'd cross my fingers but that makes it really hard to type) that the leaking pipe is an interior pipe and may very well feed the boiler and if I really do have any luck I might just within an hour or so have no leak and heat.

Whoa, that was even faster, they have finished -12:48PM.

I've turned on the house heat and now it's just wait and see what happens.  If I have heat than HOT DAMN and if I don't then it won't be any different than most days but it will be dryer in the cellar.

When I was house-sitting last Friday/Saturday I noticed that my neighbor had clipped a 'help needed' ad from the Charlottesville newspaper.  Since it was just the single ad and not the entire column I don't know what category it might have covered.  The ad stated that help was needed at Lowfield full-time and some part-time @ $8.25 an hour or equivalent salary, benefits were possible.  This farm is less than a quarter of a mile from me, had at one time been a large dairy farm but when the owners became too old to maintain it it was sold to a doctor and his wife who lived somewhere in North Carolina.  After purchasing the place it was a couple of years before they moved up here, built a little house to live in while they built a much larger home because the existing structure was beyond renovating and now it seems as though they might be considering turning it back into a working farm.  The ad really didn't say what skills if any were needed.  The only qualification it mentioned was "Must be able to lift 60 pounds".  Hell, I can lift 60 pounds but I have a feeling that they would expect me to do more than just stand there and hold it.
